About

Nearly half a century
moving what
does not move on its own.

Founded in Fortaleza in 1977, Makro grew alongside the industrialisation of northern and northeastern Brazil — and today operates nationwide.

History

It began with
one crane
and a handshake.

Makro was founded in Ceará in 1977 by Fernando Rodrigues and Inês Rodrigues. Back then business was closed with a handshake — and that origin is where the company's enduring value comes from: dependable partnerships.

In 1983 came the first truck-mounted cranes, and with them the shift from service provider to asset owner. Between 1987 and 1993 the branches that drew the company's map opened: Camaçari, Mossoró, Juazeiro do Norte, Parauapebas and São Luís. In 2013 the second generation took over in shared management. In 2017 came the first international job, in Costa Rica.

What has not changed is the test for taking a job: only work the crew can execute safely gets accepted. Today that means more than a thousand employees, fourteen Top Crane awards and 85th place in the 2026 IC100 ranking, published byInternational Cranes and Specialized Transport, among the largest crane-owning companies in the world.

Vision

“To be the best business partner.”

“Dependable partnerships.”

Values

Seven things
that are not
negotiable.

These are not slogans on a wall. They are the criteria that decide whether a job is accepted, how it is planned and who will execute it.

01

Faith in God

The principle that precedes all others. In God we trust.

02

Safety

No job is worth an accident. Safety is not a target — it is a precondition.

03

Client

The client's operation is our operation. Their deadline is our deadline.

04

People

A crane lifts nothing on its own. People do the lifting.

05

Assets

An owned fleet, modern and maintained as if every part were the last one.

06

Results

A commitment that is measured: in tonnes, in schedule and in zero lost time.

07

Innovation

Rigging method, plan engineering and on-board technology.
